Display type
LCD Display
Liquid crystal displays (LCDs) use a liquid crystal solution between two transparent electrodes. An electric current passing through the electrodes aligns the liquid crystal molecules, selectively blocking light. By controlling the voltage, an LCD screen can create an image by filtering backlight through color filters. Higher resolution displays have greater pixel density.
Advantage:Energy-efficient and affordable, highly advanced mass-production, medium to large-scale digital signage
Shortcoming:Limited viewing angles, slow response time, low contrast

TN TFT Display
Twisted Nematic (TN) is the most basic TFT LCD technology. It is fast and cheap, but suffers from grayscale inversion issues and affects viewing angles.
IPS TFT display
In-Plane Switching (IPS) is another TFT LCD technology that provides wide viewing angles and accurate colors. Hot Display offers a range of IPS displays that are not susceptible to mechanical forces, making them ideal for touchscreen applications.

VA TFT display
Vertical Alignment (VA) is another technology that offers wide viewing angles and more vivid colors. Like IPS, VA TFT LCDs do not have the grayscale inversion problem.
LED Display
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor device that emits light when an electric current flows through it. LED displays are made up of thousands of tiny LEDs arranged in a grid. By controlling the brightness of each LED, the array can create a full-color image. They offer wide viewing angles and high brightness, making them ideal for outdoor signage.
Advantage: High brightness and contrast, durable, long life, vivid colors and sunlight visibility
Shortcoming:Expensive and moderately power-hungry compared to LCD
Application:Digital billboards, scoreboards, traffic signs, video walls
OLED display
Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) use organic compounds that emit light when electricity is applied to them. Each pixel contains red, green, and blue OLEDs that can produce color independently. OLEDs have self-luminous pixels, faster response times than LCDs, higher contrast, and no need for a backlight. Flexible OLEDs enable foldable and curved screen designs.
Advantage:Very thin, flexible form factor, excellent color contrast and accuracy, wide viewing angle up to 180°, low power consumption
Shortcoming:Expensive to manufacture, prone to screen burn-in, and lower brightness than LCD
Application:Smartphones, tablets, high-end TVs, automotive displays
